Erik Schatzker is the Editorial Director of Bloomberg New Economy (“BNE”), the Bloomberg Media division that convenes events and develops content exploring the global transition to a more resilient, equitable and sustainable economy.
Schatzker, based in New York, is responsible for defining BNE’s editorial priorities and objectives and for programming the New Economy Forum, Bloomberg’s flagship conference, and regional gatherings under the New Economy Gateway banner. He also contributes regularly to the New Economy Saturday newsletter, hosts TV interviews, and serves as an editor-at-large at Bloomberg Businessweek.
Prior to taking on his role at BNE, Schatzker spent 15 years at Bloomberg Television as a reporter, anchor and interviewer where he developed and hosted the Front Row series of in-depth conversations with preeminent leaders in finance. His recent accomplishments include a rare interview with Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro in Caracas, breaking major developments in the multibillion-dollar collapse of Archegos Capital Management and a Businessweek cover story in which he went behind the scenes of an FBI sting operation.
Previously, Schatzker was a reporter, editor, bureau chief, and team leader for Bloomberg News in Canada and the US. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in history and began his career at the South Pacific Mail in Santiago, Chile.
