‘Bloomberg New Economy at B20’ to convene influential public officials and private-sector executives in Sao Paulo on October 22-23 for a dialogue on the future of the world economy
Special conference for global leaders taking place ahead of key global summits in Latin America, including B20, G20, APEC and COP
JULY 30, 2024 – Bloomberg today announced that its flagship New Economy conference series is coming to Brazil for the first time. Bloomberg New Economy at B20 will take place in Sao Paulo on October 22 and 23, 2024. This special event, convened in collaboration with the annual Business 20 (B20) forum, will bring together New Economy’s extraordinary community of leaders from the private and public sectors and tackle business and economic challenges including geopolitical tensions, climate adaptation, supply-chain restructuring, food and commodity security, public health and artificial intelligence.
As geopolitics and technology reshape the world order, Bloomberg New Economy is committed to bridging the Global North and Global South by creating platforms conducive to deeper dialogue and engagement across finance, industry and government. Brazil is playing a leading role in this transition as host of the G20 leaders summit in 2024 and COP30 in 2025 and with its global influence in resources and agriculture, investments in renewable energy and infrastructure, and pledge to end deforestation by 2030.
“By taking Bloomberg New Economy to Brazil, we are bringing global perspectives to a major cornerstone of the new economy,” said Michael R. Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies and 108th mayor of New York City. “With the world facing growing challenges driven by major social, economic and climate disruption, it has become a priority for global leaders and innovators to come together to find solutions for a more equitable, healthy and sustainable future. We look forward to shaping discussions ahead of this year’s G20 and to continue mobilizing private capital for public good.”
Formed in 2018, Bloomberg New Economy has built a worldwide community of influential leaders in business and policy through its events in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America; its Catalyst program for young visionaries; and at its Insights series of roundtable discussions. In Sao Paulo, they will continue turning ideas into action, complementing the B20’s role as a business-community advisor to the G20.
“We welcome Bloomberg New Economy’s timely gathering of important local, regional and international leaders in Sao Paulo,” said Dan Ioschpe, B20 Chair from the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), host of B20 Brasil. “It fully complements the discussions taking place at our B20 Summit and this year’s theme of building inclusive growth for a sustainable future. We look forward to helping our two communities engage in meaningful dialogue ahead of the G20 summit.”
Bloomberg also announced today that it will return to Singapore in 2025 to host the seventh New Economy Forum. As an extension of this flagship Forum, Bloomberg New Economy at B20, will encompass plenary discussions, deep-dive breakouts, bilateral meetings and public-private workshops, as well as evening programming under the guiding theme, ‘New Reality, New Rules’. Bloomberg New Economy’s newest class of Catalysts will also be participating and its Coalition partners will be meeting on site.
More details about the special event in Brazil will be revealed in the coming weeks. Please visit https://www.bloombergneweconomy.com to receive updates or request an invitation.
