Bloomberg Announces Finalists for Green Docs Competition


Winner to be named at the Bloomberg Green Festival July 10-13 in Seattle

July 2, 2024 –  Bloomberg Green announced the finalists for its Bloomberg Green Docs competition. The documentary contest honors short films addressing the urgency of climate change.

The 2024 finalists are: 

  • Climate Diaries; Heather’s Story by Berit Anderson and Ali Scattergood
  • Finding Home by Maria Stanisheva
  • Grove of Giants by Bree Sanders
  • Life with Bats by David Luff
  • Saving Glaciers by Ciril Jazbec

The winner will be announced July 12 at the upcoming Bloomberg Green Festival in Seattle. During the event, all five finalists’ documentaries will be screened, which explore topics from saving melting glaciers, to climate refugees, and the importance of species protection. The winner will be awarded a $25,000 grand prize.

The finalists were selected by a jury consisting of Lindsay Firestone, Film & Special Content Projects Lead, Bloomberg Philanthropies; John Fraher, Senior Executive Editor, Bloomberg; dream hampton, Filmmaker; Will N. Miller, Producer, “The Territory” and Co-Founder, Documist; Aaron Rutkoff, Executive Editor, Bloomberg Green and  Jill Tidman, Executive Director, The Redford Center.

The Bloomberg Green Docs contest accepts submissions of short documentary films that are no more than ten minutes in length on a topic related to nature, global warming, the outdoors or the environment.

Bloomberg Green is centered on the business, science, and technology of climate change. Offering news, analysis, and solutions, its content appears on the Bloomberg Green website, a daily email newsletter, a podcast, and the Bloomberg Terminal, with integration across digital video, Bloomberg Originals, Bloomberg Television, Bloomberg TV+, Bloomberg Radio, and Bloomberg Live Experiences.
