Last week, Bloomberg Pursuits Car Columnist Hannah Elliott traveled to California for Monterey Car Week. Set against beautiful backdrops (including Pebble Beach Golf Course and The Quail Lodge), the annual event brought together car collectors and admirers from around the world for seven days of shows, auctions, and events to ogle the world’s most impressive automobiles.
For anyone who couldn’t make the trip to Monterey, check out highlights below from Hannah’s coverage for a look at the amazing cars and a view into what’s happening in the car world.
The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering
Vintage cars covered the lawn at the Quail Lodge. Hannah Elliott was joined by iconic car designer Henrik Fisker at the Bloomberg Pursuits sponsored tent for a conversation on the future of car design.
Classic Car Auctions
Many collectors travel to Monterey to invest in their next vintage car. This year, the week’s auctions garnered over $344 million in sales, an impressive figure but down 13% from last year – an important market indicator for investors and enthusiasts.

“Best of Show”
A 1936 Lancia Astura Pinin Farina Cabriolet, once owned by Eric Clapton, won the “Best of Show” title at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – the week’s most prestigious event. Elliott, along with Bloomberg photographer David Paul Morris, brought readers the most beautiful cars on display.
