M. Scott Havens, Global Head of Digital & Media Distribution, sent the following memo to Bloomberg Media employees:
All,
I am thrilled to announce that Margot Schupf has joined us as Head of Americas for Bloomberg Media Distribution. In this newly created role, she will be reporting into me as we look to accelerate the group’s growth through creative partnerships and innovative new products.
Margot is a seasoned strategic media executive, passionate about connecting the dots between content and revenue. With operational, editorial, and sales and marketing experience, Margot is adept at introducing new products, expanding markets, and unlocking value from existing assets and legacy brands. Most recently at Time Inc., she led a multifaceted publishing division that spanned the entire brand portfolio and created a strategy that significantly grew the business. Her efforts helped the division exceed internal profit targets for three consecutive years.
Margot joined Time Inc. from Archetypes, a startup focused on e-commerce and content curation based on personality type. Earlier in her career, she held senior positions at a variety of media organizations including Rodale — where she played a significant role in building a $100M+ business around The South Beach Diet franchise — Barnes & Noble and HarperCollins.
Margot has a BA in English and French Literature from Colgate University. And when she’s not dreaming up new ways to make money off IP, this native New Yorker and art lover can be found roaming the city in a never-ending search for the world’s best chocolate chip cookie.
With the addition of Margot, the core business leadership for Digital & Media Distribution is complete. Margot joins Julia Beizer, Chief Product Officer, responsible for driving our overall global Digital platform; Lindsay Murphy Horrigan, Head of Digital Consumer Marketing, leading growth for the Businessweek and Bloomberg.com subscription business; and Jean Ellen Cowgill, GM of TicToc and Head of Digital Strategy, focused on expanding TicToc across platforms and regions.
I could not be more confident in this team of amazing leaders as we collaborate with our editorial, engineering and sales partners to drive both our digital and distribution businesses toward another year of exceptional growth.
Margot will sit alongside the BMD sales team. Please stop by and introduce yourself when you have a chance.
Scott
