Bloomberg News Wins Gerald Loeb Awards in Audio and Explanatory Categories


NEW YORK (Oct. 11, 2024) – Bloomberg News earned two 2024 Gerald Loeb Awards, one of the most prestigious honors in business journalism. Bloomberg won for the “Spellcaster” podcast series in the audio category and for the “Bad Medicine” investigative series in the explanatory category.

Spellcaster investigates the collapse of crypto exchange FTX and the fall of Sam Bankman-Fried. The series is produced by Bloomberg and Wondery, and the Loeb winners included Hannah Miller, Annie Massa, Max Chafkin, Chris Seigel, Russell Finch, Rachel B. Doyle, Mark Milian and Jeff Grocott.

The series “Bad Medicine”  explores how porous regulations and manufacturing shortcuts allow dangerous drugs to circulate around the world. The Loeb Award recognized Bloomberg’s Kendall Taggart, Priyanka Pulla, Peter Robison, Zachary Mider, Anna Edney, Riley Griffin, Swati Gupta and Modou Joof for their work on the series.

The 2024 Loeb Award winners were announced Thursday evening  at a ceremony at the Rainbow Room in New York City.
